Top 10 "B" Movies

1. Batman Forever (release date: June 6, 1995)

While I would highly recommend all of the Batman movies, this one is a must see. Val Kilmer, Nicole Kidman, Chris O'Donnell, Tommy Lee Jones, and Jim Carrey play off of each other brilliantly in this comic-based film. With the introduction of Robin as Batman's trusty sidekick and the dark humor of the Riddler and Two-Face, this is one of the best Batman movies ever released. However, I would suggest starting at the beginning and working your way to The Dark Knight (premiering July 2008).

2. Beetlejuice (release date: March 30, 1988)

Although it is a dark comedy that borders on ridiculous, this Tim Burton classic should not be overlooked. Michael Keaton is brilliant as Beetlejuice, a bio-exorcist helping a nice dead couple, played by Alec Baldwin and Geena Davis, scare people out of their house. If for no other reason, this movie must be watched in order to witness the unforgettable dinner scene set to Day-O (Banana Boat Song).

3. The Bourne Movies

This is a trilogy of movies that cannot be missed. If you've somehow missed the phenomenon of the Bourne movies, it's time to catch up on these exciting, fast-paced, edge-of-your-seat movies that top it all off with exquisite story lines. Matt Damon becomes Jason Bourne with ease; immersing the viewer in the movie and investing them in his character. Start off with The Bourne Identity (release date: June 14, 2002), follow it up with The Bourne Supremacy (release date: July 23, 2004), and conclude the thrilling adventure with The Bourne Ultimatum (release date: August 3, 2007).

4. The Bridget Jones Movies

These comedic love stories will not only have you falling in love, but have you falling on the floor laughing. The more you watch them, the funnier they become. Follow the life, and diary, of a normal British woman who's just not completely satisfied with herself or the way things are going in her life. She looks for love, looks to lose some weight, and looks to be happy just the way she is. Renee Zellweger does a brilliant job as Bridget Jones and her role is supported by the adorable and talented Colin Firth and Hugh Grant. Get to know Bridget in Bridget Jones's Diary (release date: April 13, 2001) and find out how her life turns out in Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason (release date: November 19, 2004).

5. Beauty and the Beast (Disney) (release date: November 22, 1991)

Disney movies are not what they used to be and almost none can compare to the beautiful story of Beauty and the Beast. An enchanting tale with music you'll want to know by heart. This is a movie that can be enjoyed by the whole family; whether you're 5 or 50, this musical tale of true love is what dreams and fairy tales are made of. Go on a journey with Belle to find a prince inside a Beast.

6. Benny and Joon (release date: April 16, 1993)

While Johnny Depp has made blockbuster history in movies like Pirates of the Caribbean, it's this lesser known romantic comedy where I first fell in love with him. He plays Sam, a quirky and eccentric man who falls in love with a mentally ill woman named Joon living with her protective brother, Benny. Sam and Joon's pure and fun-loving relationship will leave you laughing, crying, and sighing your way through this unforgettable film.

7. Big Fish (release date: January 9, 2004)

Many films these days fall short of being truly original and inventive. Big Fish, directed by Tim Burton and starred in my Ewan McGregor, tests the limits of your imagination. It follows the adventures of Ed Bloom in his quest to find his true love, Sandra. This larger than life tale mixes adventure, comedy, drama and fantasy; a mix that is sure to have you believing in the unbelievable by the time it's over.

8. Big (release date: June 3, 1988)

If you somehow missed this movie, go and get it right now! Basically the original 13 Going on 30, Tom Hanks is 100% believable as a man-child. Staring out as a young boy, he wishes to be "big" and wakes up the next morning a man! Trying to fit into the this new world of adulthood while still holding onto his childlike ways the viewer is taken on a witty and touching journey that makes Big an instant classic and a definite MUST SEE!

9. The Breakfast Club (release date: February 15, 1985)

This movie is the true definition of an 80's high school film. Starring the 80's "it girl," Molly Ringwald, we find ourselves locked in detention with five high school students who in the course of one day become way more then strangers. Representing different stereotypes and life situations, they end up sharing their lives, finding common ground, and even finding love. Like the tag-line for this movie says, "They only met once, but it changed their lives forever." Meet the characters of The Breakfast Club, you won't regret it!

10. The 'Burbs (release date: February 17, 1989)

An absolutely hilarious black comedy about nice guy, Ray Peterson (Tom Hanks) and his crazy neighbors. Joined by Carrie Fisher as his wife, Bruce Dern as his patriotic, army-minded neighbor, Rick Ducommun as his overzealous, trouble-making neighbor, and Corey Feldman as his hilarious teenage neighbor who watches everything go down like it was a side-show, this cast makes for a brilliantly hilarious romp through the repercussions of messing with the 'burbs. Assuming their shy and extremely odd neighbors might be murderers, they all band together to find the truth before somebody gets hurt. Sure to become a favorite in your household in no time.
